Thinsulate insulation works, similarly to other synthetic insulators, by trapping warm air in a layer between you and the outside shell of your outerwear. The ultra-fine fibers used are able to trap more air in a smaller space than other types of synthetic insulation, which reduces weight, increases breathability, and gives the insulation a softer feel. Thinsulate is also moisture resistant, and is able to maintain it's insulating properties while in wet conditions. This quality also helps the garment dry quicker when it does get wet, or during highly aerobic activities.
