Yesterday marked the first day of a new year, a fresh start, and new beginnings. Yesterday also marked the opening day of the 2012 Burton Mountain Festival at Copper Mountain. This 3-day event will be held at various resorts throughout 2012, and will include Burton’s amateur Pro-Test competition, demoing of Burton’s new gear, and a miniature terrain park for the little ones. The Burton Pro-Test comp offers amateur riders of all ages a chance to compete for a piece of $7,000 worth of prize money. Those who do well in the contest will also have the opportunity to qualify for the US Open of Snowboarding. The competition will feature both slopestyle and half-pipe.
Burton is also giving participants a chance to demo their greatest and latest hard goods. Now you can test ride that new board or try out their newest boots before making a purchase. Traveling with the festival will also be Burton’s Riglet park, specifically designed for the younger and less experienced riders. The Mountain Festival will make 10 stops total, the next being at Mammoth resort in California, January 6th-8th.
