Apparel designers have introduced new styles of jackets this winter season that appeal to all types of fashionistas. These jackets have eye-popping colors and warm, yet flattering in all-the-right-places insulations, as well as considerate features and detailing made just for women. Take a look at what’s brand new in women’s ski, snowboard, and lifestyle jackets for 2013-2014. You’ll be glad you did!
We must tell you about the Under Armour Women’s Coldgear Infrared Fader Jacket! Tailored specifically to fit a woman’s body and sporting either a striking green or purple ombre color, this is the ultimate must-have jacket for the fashionable skier who wants to look great on or off the mountain. Not only does this jacket feature Under Armour's unique PrimaLoft Insulation and Armour Storm to keep out all the elements, but it also has a Coldgear Infrared Printed Interior, which captures your own warmth and reflects it inward to keep you warm on those bitter cold days. With 10k waterproofing and breathability, fully taped seams, a fur-lined collar, mesh-backed core vents and in-pocket hem adjusters, we give the Infrared Fader jacket two thumbs up! Under Armour also makes a smaller version of this jacket with all the same features so you and your daughter can turn heads together with your new trendy, chic Infrared Fader Jackets.
Next is the Columbia Women’s Whirlibird Interchange 3-in-1 Jacket. In a plaid print with 5 various vibrant colors, this jacket is full of fun features. Three jackets in one – a warm, repellent liner, a waterproof and breathable fully, seam-sealed shell and a combination of both give you ultimate versatility to stay warm, dry, protected and comfortable in fluctuating winter conditions. With a zip-in and 3-point interchange system, the liner can be zipped into the jacket or worn on its own. The outer shell is carefully constructed with Columbia’s own Omni-Tech, three layers of waterproof and breathable shell material and Omni-Heat, which is Columbia thermal reflective technology. The liner is assembled with Omni-Shield, Columbia’s advanced repellant shield, which repels water as well as stains. With underarm venting, an adjustable snap back powder skirt and lots of handy inner pockets for gadgets, it’s hard to believe this jacket is as much fashionable as it is functional. You’ll be doing whilibirds down the mountain in the Whirlibird Interchange 3-in-1 Jacket.
Designed specifically but not exclusively for snowboarders, the DC Women’s Data Jacket in Brick Plaid is colorful, trendy and one of our absolute favorites for the 2013/2014 winter season. This jacket is tailored specifically for a women’s body so it won’t be too bulky, yet fully insulated with 10k waterproofing and breathability. With a waist gaiter, lycra cuff gaiter and mesh-lined venting, you can let out excess heat without letting the snow in. Sporting both a media pocket and interior mesh stash pocket, passersby’s will see just a blur of color as you speed past them rocking out in you new DC Data Jacket.
We understand that not all women out there ski or snowboard or even if they do, having a good-looking around-town winter jacket is still very important. That’s why we have chosen the Hailey Jacket by Marmot as the next must-have for a great women’s universal winter jacket. Not only is it cute and sassy, but it also has a 700 fill power goose down fill to keep you warm whether you’re out walking the kids to the bus stop on a brisk winter morning or holiday shopping at the outdoor market. Depending on what mood you’re in, it can be worn with or without the zip-off down filled hood with removable faux fur trim. With micro fleece lined internal cuffs and zippered hand warmer pockets, it will surely keep your fingers warm if you accidentally left your gloves at home.
Our last favorite that we are excited to share is the Burton Women’s L.A.M.B Insulator Jacket in True Black/Big Houndstooth Print! Both cozy and classy, this extra long puffy jacket is part of Burton’s new L.A.M.B. collection, which was developed in collaboration with fashion icon Gwen Stefani. It is constructed with a super lightweight taffeta fabric with dryride mist-defy and 650 fill down insulation. Sporting a slim, knee-length fit with vintage elbow patches, houndstooth accents and a removable contour hood, not only will it keep you warm, but it will keep heads turning your way in awe. Also featuring comfort ribbed cuffs and a two-way zipper, you will feel as though you snuggled up in a fashionable sleeping bag that you don’t ever want to take off!
